I am Hania Haroon. I was an improver this year. My matriculation score was 1072, and my FSC score was 1067. I secured 176 marks in UHS MDCAT this year, and my aggregate is 92.545. In Nums, my aggregate is 95.14%. Last year, my MDCAT marks were 160 ;so, my merit could not be met. This was the first failure of my academic career because I was a topper from the beginning. I was the 2nd city topper in matric and fsc and the 1st topper in my school and college. In this sense, it was a big setback for me because, on the first attempt, I was quite confident that I would get it. But later, I realized that there were many shortcomings left. I am the eldest of the siblings at home, and I did not have much contact with my seniors as I am a little introvert, due to which I was not aware of many sources and platforms. It was very difficult to keep myself strong and prepare for this journey again, but by the grace of Allah, I motivated myself. One thing I would like to say is to always stay positive, because it has helped me a lot, as I am quite positive and optimistic. Anyway, I started my prep in January. In the first three months, I did self-study. During this time, I joined test session of Dr Aqib. I revised my previous year’s notes.I also used to practice mcqs, dr aqib notes, shortlisting and most repeated mcqs from paid drive by Dr. Aqib @mdcataspirants. Then I joined the early prep session on March 30th in Kips 30A Lahore. During this time, my routine was that I used to revise the lectures almost daily and practice the tests that were conducted on a daily basis. For this, I used to do kips practice MCQs first, then practice MCQs from past paper and self-assessment tests from paid drive. In this way, my practice was good.In the end, I joined the test session. And in the last, for about twenty to twenty-five days, I preferred self-study instead of attending any academy. And before the test, I had completed revision about four to five times.
I also practiced MCQs from past papers, and it was very useful. In this regard, I wanna thanks Dr.Aqib again because his paid drive helped me alot as it contained all the material needed to ace my mdcat very well organized at one place and i didn’t have to search them here nd there. In the last few days, I also did flpsfrom paid drive and practiced them on a bubble sheet. This is also important so that you don’t have difficulty with bubble filling and time management during the test. Thus, I was quite confident on the test day , and my test was done before approx. half an hour .
Biology:
I prepared from ptb or federal. For this, I used to do that ,for example, if there was a topic, first of all I would prepare the notes of the academy, and from there my concepts would be cleared very well because the teacher in the academy used to teach very well. Then I used to do PTB and then prepare that topic for federal. Then MCQ practice in last.
For physics
I did my notes plus dr aqib formula sheets and PTB. Practice matters a lot for physics, so it should be given a lot of attention. Apart from this, I had done shortlisting myself for physics and did a quick revision of the same on the last day. And that was more than enough, in my opinion.
For chemistry,
I prepared from notes and PTB. I almost memorized the chapters of PTB for organic chemistry. I think you should prepare the text book for chemistry.
For English,
I prepared from the Kips prep book, and it helped me a lot. I did not focus much on Vocab, but Kips’s Vocab is good, so it can be done from there.
Being an improver, I will say that this journey is not easy though. Sometimes you get very frustrated, tired, and saddened to see your badge fellows moving forward. But rest assured, no pain is remembered after success. The most important thing is to keep your relationship with Allah strong. He will not let you fall. Guard your prayers, connect yourself with the Qur’an, and leave the results to Allah. Indeed, He is the best rewarder. With trust in Allah, a person can face all kinds of situations, so keep your faith firm in Him. Finally, I would like to say a poem that I used to repeat often during the last days of MDCAT.
جو یقیں کی راہ پر چل پڑے انھیں منزلوں نے پناہ دی
جنھیں وسوسوں نے ڈرا دیا وہ قدم قدم پر بہک گئے…
